June 10th, 2011 - League Starts Next Week!!
For those of you who missed the registration deadline don't panic! General registration is closed but you can still sign up with the Singles Squad. Just go here and select the Singles Squad as your team. Once you've done that, come on out to the fields and we'll help you find your team.
If you just want to see how the game is played, come on out as well! For the first two weeks we'll be at Wellington School. Following that, we'll be at Caledonia fields for the rest of the season. See you soon!

March 2nd, 2011 - League Update!
We just wanted to send out a quick update on the Nanaimo Ultimate Summer League 2011! Registration is now open and can be found here.
Players can register as part of the singles team or once your team captain has registered, as a part of another team. Registration closes May 23rd.
Captains! Don’t forget that the focus this year is on our newer players and to recruit first-timers. As a bonus the more players you have on a team, the cheaper everyone’s fees are and there’s a draw for NUA merchandise, one entry for every new player you sign up!
The NUA forums are also now open. This is a great place for teams and players to connect. Teams can post to recruit players and players can post their availability for a team!
We’re still looking for a couple players to volunteer to captain or mentor the singles team so if you’re interested please contact us at the email below.
There are also Summer League posters available and we’re asking everyone to help spread the word by putting some up around Nanaimo. Contact us at the email below if you’d like a copy.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact us. We’re all very stoked for what is going to be a fantastic summer for Nanaimo Ultimate!!
From the NUA Summer League Committee (Geoff, Paula, Patty and Dave)

Feb 20th, 2011 - Greetings Nanaimo Ultimate and Potential Captains!
This page is to fill you in on the new and shiny league format! Although Nanaimo's previous Hat Leagues have been very successful, this year is going to see a bit of a departure because NUA's focus and main goal this year is to grow, grow, grow!
THE FORMAT
The format, in a nutshell, is submit your own team with a maximum of six very experienced/core players. You are expected to able to field seven players on a line with a gender balance of four males, three females (see League Rules and Regulations).
There is no limit to how many players may be members of a team, as long as you can field a proper female/male ratio and follow the rating system cap (see below).
League will run for the duration of the summer, over 10 weeks from June to August. We are looking at having league finals (tournament style) on a Saturday with a party to follow. Awards will be handed out to the League Spirit Champions and the League Champions.
SOME IMPORTANT DATES
Registration starts March 1st. Teams must be submitted by May 23rd.
Team payment due at Captain’s Meeting on May 31st.
There is a mixed/skills clinic/pick-up on the first night of league, June 7 th.
Games start June 14th and run until August 23rd.
The weekend of August 27th is Summer League finals (quarters/semis/finals) as well as the end of league party.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Players can register here. This link won’t be active until March 1st.
If you are a captain and you've gotten your team together, you will be expected to pay for your team up-front.
The price per team is $750. This includes a $50 deposit (see the league rules).
It looks like a lot, but if you get 10 people on your team that's $75 per person - which is a little more than what league fees were last year. If you get 14 on your squad you're looking at ~$54.00 a head. If you are registering on the Singles Squad, it will be $60/player.
The captain needs to register first in order to get their team name up on the website!
Once the captain has registered and submitted a team, individual players can sign up and register through the NUA website.
Each player will be asked to rank their skill level on a scale of one to ten. Teams are allowed only six players with a skill level of eight or higher. Please be honest as the league committee will review any players whose rankings are considered questionable.
SUBMITTING AS AN INDIVIDUAL
If you don't have a team, now is not the time to panic. Depending on numbers there will either be a singles team or we'll find you a team. While we're on the subject, we're also looking for experienced players who are interested in heading up the Singles Squad.
If you want to register as a single you can go to the NUA website and register through the usual ways. The only difference is when you're prompted to select your team, select SINGLES SQUAD.
Drop-in players will be treated on a case-by-case basis.
TEAM & PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES
Above all else, players are expected to observe Spirit Of The Game and play with respect for one another.
The complete league rules are here
Please note, the League Committee reserve the right to make changes to the league rules and regulations. This is a new format and as problems arise we may need to make changes to how things are run. Captains will be notified via email of any changes to league regulations.
POSTERS
We’ll also have posters to put up around town so if you know of any place where you could post one please contact us for a copy!
If you have any questions, concerns, etc, please contact the NUA summer league sub-committee, via Geoff Lowe.
